George William Lloyd was born 21 Jun 1912, eldest son of George William Lloyd and his wife Myra Jemima Wilson, living at 43 Parliament St, Derby.
George William Lloyd was the eldest of three children. Sister Mary Elizabeth (1914 – 1933) and Brother Edwin Harold (1917 – 1983), both born in Rochdale, Lancashire.
At the time of the 1921 Census the family had returned to Derby and were living at 253 Stockbrook Street. George William Lloyd Snr, listed as a Military Pensioner in the census, passed away in 1927.
At the 1939 (21 September) Census George William Lloyd was living with his Mother Myra, brother Edwin and Step-Father Sidney Harold Dyer (1886 – 1950) at 18 Elm Grove, Chaddesden, Derby. George’s occupation is registered as a Carpenter/Joiner.
On the 23 December 1939 George married Gertrude Mary Duffill (1916 – 1997) at St. Giles Church, Normanton, Derby. The Derby Evening Telegraph marriage announcement notes that George formerly played for Burton Town Football Club.
George William Lloyd died on 07 Jul 1943 at 18 Elm Grove, Chaddesden, Derby (home of his mother and step-father), from Pulmonary Tuberculosis.
George William Lloyd is interred at Nottingham Road Cemetery, Chaddesden, Derby, section A1, Grave Number 2490F.
