The memorial to the Men of Nottingham Road who died in WW1, is the only listed memorial in the cemetery. Public subscription raised £200 for the memorial and it was erected in a prominent position on Nottingham Road in a recess of Stancliffe stone. It was unveiled by the Mayor of Derby on 7th November 1920 in front of 2,000 people and was originally situated on Nottingham Road, opposite St Marks Road.

In the 1970s it was moved to the Royal British Legion on Hillcrest Road and in the 1990s relocated to Nottingham Road Cemetery.

It has a grade II listing and was first listed on 18th February 2016.

On the 4th November 2024 the memorial was professionally cleaned by the Victoria Cross Trust, along with the memorials in the Derby Market place and in the war memorial village at Shelton Lock.

The cleaning process used pressured steam rather than a jet wash which could have damaged the stone and lettering. The work was supervised by the local heritage and conservation officer.
